Using a previously derived QCD effective hamiltonian we find the masses of heavy quarkonia states. Non perturbative effects are included through temperature dependent gluonic condensates. The masses of the scalar (σ) and vector (ω) mesons and their widths in nuclear matter are studied in detail using the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model.
